This Thursday, May 10th, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bloomberg Room of the National Press Club, the Center for Security Policy launches a national public education campaign to ask America’s leaders to end the real ‘war on women’ — the Shariah War On Women. (http://www.theshariahwaronwomen.org)

Shariah law oppresses women’s liberties and human rights, denying them their unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness:

* Life: Shariah destroys women’s lives through honor killings, physical abuse, female genital mutilation, and rape. This occurs not only to Muslim women but also to Christian and secular women through acts of kidnapping, imprisonment and murder.

* Liberty: Shariah crushes women’s liberty through censoring free speech, freedom of religion and freedom of association.

* Pursuit of Happiness: Shariah punishes women’s pursuit of happiness by denying equal rights and freedom in marriage, divorce, child custody, education and employment

A panel discussion, moderated by Center President Frank J. Gaffney, Jr. and featuring several prominent civil liberties and human rights activists, will launch the national campaign to end the Shariah War On Women. Panelists will include:

Nonie Darwish: Ms. Darwish is an American human rights activist, writer, public speaker as well as founder and Director of Former Muslims United and founder of Arabs For Israel. She is the author of a new book titled The Devil We Don’t Know: The Dark Side of Revolutions in the Middle East. She is also the author of Now they Call Me Infidel; Why I Renounced Jihad for America, Israel and the War on Terror and Cruel And Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law. She speaks frequently at college campuses, religious institutions and civic association meetings. She is currently a Senior Fellow with the Center for Security Policy.

Cynthia Farahat: Ms. Farahat is an Egyptian political activist, writer and researcher. In December 2011, Ms. Farahat testified before the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission in the US House of Representatives on the roots of the persecution of the Coptic Christian minority in her native Egypt. In 2008-2009, she was program coordinator and program officer at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty in Cairo, a multi-national free market think tank. She co-founded the Liberal Egyptian Party (2006-2008) and served as a member of its political committee. She is a fellow at the Middle East Forum and the Center for Security Policy and works with the Coptic Solidarity organization.

Clare Lopez: Ms. Lopez is a strategic policy and intelligence expert with a focus on Middle East, homeland security, national defense, and counterterrorism issues. Lopez began her career as an operations officer with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), serving domestically and abroad for 20 years in a variety of assignments, acquiring extensive expertise in counterintelligence, counternarcotics, and counterproliferation issues with a career regional focus on the former Soviet Union, Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Ms. Lopez is a regular contributor to print and broadcast media on subjects related to Iran and the Middle East and the co-author of two published books on Iran. She is the author of an acclaimed paper for the Center for Security Policy, The Rise of the Iran Lobby, where she serves as a Senior Fellow.

Karen Lugo: Karen Lugo is the founder of The Libertas-West Project and in this capacity she responded to a request from French jurists to submit a brief to the Conseil d’Etat on the legal grounds for banning the burqa. Karen is also Co-Director of the Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence. In this role, she directs the Center’s litigation in support of constitutional issues. She has submitted amicus briefs to the US Supreme Court on such issues as Healthcare Reform, Arizona’s Border Security, Gay Marriage, The Ten Commandments, Christian Clubs on University Campuses, and Material Support to Terrorists. She is a visiting professor at Chapman Law School and co-teaches the advanced Constitutional Law Clinic. Karen is president of the Orange County Federalist Society lawyer chapter and sits on the Federalist Society International Law Executive Committee. She is also on the board of advisors for Trinity Law School in Orange County, CA and an advisor to UK Baroness Caroline Cox’s HART US. Karen is a regular guest on the Orange County PBS local issues debate program, Inside OC, and she is a frequent contributor to RedCounty.com, FlashReport, and contributing editor to Family Security Matters. She has been interviewed by dozens of radio hosts on the matter of sharia law. Ms. Lugo is an appointee to the California Advisory Committee to the US Commission on Civil Rights.

Mormon Doctrine Leads to Socialism?

Now that Mitt Romney is the presumptive Republican nominee for president, the left is increasing its attacks on his Mormon religion, hoping to distract voters into focusing on perceived negatives about Mormonism. The latest attack is shrewdly done. Instead of directly attacking Mormonism, which could look bad, the left is claiming that Mormonism is really socialist.

Last month, the far left website Salon ran an article entitled, “When Mormons Were Socialists.” It relied completely upon a deliberate misinterpretation of a few verses in the Book of Mormon. The author claimed that Mormon doctrine about events in the first century A.D. advocated for socialism. He declared that in the Third Book of Nephi, God punished a city because “the government disregarded the sick and poor.” Tellingly, the Salon article did not indicate where in the Book of Mormon the verses it relies upon are located, because they do not exist. At no time did the Nephite government ever give even a tiny amount of assistance to the poor.

The Book of Mormon is heavily critical of excessive government taxation. Wicked King Noah was criticized for taxing his people mercilessly to fund his extravagant building plan. Like the Bible, which Mormons follow, the Book of Mormon teaches the principle of asking others – not the government – to help the poor.

The Third Book of Nephi is about a city that was punished by God for greed, immorality and turning away from God. It is similar to Bible stories about God punishing the cities ofSodomandGomorrahand the king ofBabylon.

The Bible and the Third Book of Nephi both criticize the wealthy for their arrogance. Chapter 6, verses 12 & 15 of the Third Book of Nephi, state:

There began to be some disputings among the people; and some were lifted up unto pride and boastings because of their exceedingly great riches, yea, even unto great persecutions…..Satan had great power, unto the stirring up of the people to do all manner of iniquity, and to the puffing them up with pride, tempting them to seek for power, and authority, and riches, and the vain things of the world.

Similarly, the Bible rails against the greedy rich in James 5:1-4:

1 And a final word to you arrogant rich: Take some lessons in lament. You’ll need buckets for the tears when the crash comes upon you. 2 Your money is corrupt and your fine clothes stink. 3 Your greedy luxuries are a cancer in your gut, destroying your life from within. You thought you were piling up wealth. What you’ve piled up is judgment. 4 All the workers you’ve exploited and cheated cry out for judgment. The groans of the workers you used and abused are a roar in the ears of the Master Avenger.

Another claim made by the Salon author is that the Third Book of Nephi condemned corporate greed and advocated for the Occupy movement. “God had called Samuel to essentially Occupy Zarahemla, to stand up and speak out against corporate greed and wealth accumulation,” he wrote. Yet contrary to his assertion, there were no corporations in 6 B.C. Samuel was merely instructed to denounce greed and selfishness, which the Bible has always condemned. This has nothing in common with the Occupy movement, which seeks to use the government to redistribute wealth. This is the same kind of accusation the left makes about mainstream Christianity, claiming Jesus “occupied” theTemple.

The communitarian living of Mormons in the 1800’s is held up as more evidence that Mormons used to advocate for socialism. However, communal living is not socialism; it is voluntary agreements among private parties. A quote by Brigham Young stating that the streams and timber belong to the people and are not for private ownership is also offered as evidence of socialism. This is not accurate, since most capitalist countries, including the United States, treat rivers and most timber forests as federal or state property.

This latest attack is just a variation on the left’s claim that the Bible and Jesus advocated for socialism. If Mormons are socialists, then evangelicals are too. It is odd the left is suddenly so interested in Mormonism now. Harry Reid, a Mormon Democrat, has been the Senate Majority leader since 2007. Mo Udall, also a Mormon Democrat, ran for President against Jimmy Carter in 1976. The left has never had a problem with their Mormonism.

A lot of people are too young to remember what it was like living under a Jimmy Carter presidency. I do, and although it had some merits, like good granola cereals being sold everywhere, for the most part I hardly think it was worth it.

At the time of the Carter election in 1976, it was the nation’s bicentennial and people were pretty fed up with Republicans and a stalled economy. Things just weren’t moving forward and the nation wanted ‘change’, so Carter got in and things certainly did change. It was more than just the political climate, the nation started going through some philosophical changes, many of which weren’t all that great. When Carter got elected he blamed Republicans for just about everything and promised people two chickens in every pot.

There was a general distaste in America for everything traditionally American. Maybe it was backlash from all the red white and blue flag stuff from the bicentennial, maybe it was just anti-Nixon/Ford, maybe people were just getting angry with men dying in Vietnam for a cause they didn’t understand. People’s ideas of ‘getting back to basics’ meant eating more granola, less flag waving, wearing blue jeans in the White House and generally making a hash of traditional American values.

Of course the media sold it that way, and Hollywood. Television swarmed with anti-American rhetoric shows in the wake of the fallout of the Vietnam War and generally tried to point the American consciousness away from traditional values—and indeed sold those ideas as being the really American ones. The “Meathead” from Archie Bunker, Mike Stivic, was running things now from an ideological point of view, and Hollywood was a major part of it. Pinkos were now stylish.

A show called MASH ran from 1972-1983 and started off being a comedy about a mobile surgical unit in Korea (based on the1970 movie). By 1975 however, it became a forum on Vietnam and war in general. Killing off a main character to send a message about war, and others leaving the show for other ventures , left it with a core that were intent on making every show a ‘message’ about the usual value system American had. Generals were portrayed as bloodthirsty warmongering savages who cared little about the troops. War sucked and the leadership was a bunch of gun toting idiots. Hilarious bits about Klinger in a dress were dropped as was the still the doctors drowned their woes in, and social issues were expanded. When people were polled about MASH years later, the majority of viewers thought it was set in Vietnam, not Korea.

Chief among them was a big deal being made about the main character Hawkeye Pierce, played by Alan Alda. Alda was held up as a role model for men, and that the new sexy was not the strong and silent type, but the vocal crybaby type instead. His snarky, smarmy, ‘look at me I’m smarter than you’ brand of humor was the rage. Alda always struck me as the kind of guy in a fight that would rabbit punch you when nobody was looking then run out the back door, but America loved him. Every year the guy won the Emmy for best performance. Every year. I think the guy has like 25 Emmy awards, 24 of them from MASH. If Alan Alda had run for President in 1980 instead of Carter, I think Reagan never would have won. Alda was the prince of prime-time TV and the nation at large.

After Reagan’s election though, the writing was on the wall for the sort of thinking that a man crying about war while wearing khaki was swell, and was pretty much over. MASH became less and less funny and was simply a platform for liberalism by 1980. People were bored eating Brimley’s oats and burning their bras while waiting in line for gas. Books like “Real Men Don’t Eat Quiche” became the rage. The “We” generation was now a blip on the radar and 1980 brought in the era of the “Me” generation.

If you are wondering where I’m going with this, it is just a gentle reminder to those who are big Obama fans or who think Obama has a chance in the fall, is that the Alan Alda nation never lasts. It is almost over once again, even though this is twice now that liberalism was bigger than sliced bread.

You can only pull the wool over the eyes of people for so long. Eventually people change the channel and get tired of being noble and suffering under high energy prices, inflation and joblessness in order to appease leftist tyrants and tree huggers.

The denim overalls the leftists try and make everyone wear to work start to itch mightily after a few years. It doesn’t matter what the polls say, it doesn’t matter that the statistics show only 8.2% out of work (ONLY 8.2% sheesh) when its really closer to 14%. People know when they’ve been snookered and sold a bill of goods. People know when they open their wallets and have to decide if they can afford the popcorn at the theater or not instead of which size bucket to get.

Obama’s time is about over. He will just fade away like a bad memory only to pop up now and then for everyone to laugh at like Jimmy Carter when he goes and says something stupid. Hopefully, he will pop up more than Carter did. Why?

Just to remind people how much of a clown jester they both were.

Richard Lugar’s 36-year Senate career came to an ignominious end Tuesday evening when Indiana Republican primary voters chose Tea Party champion Richard Mourdock to face a Democratic challenger this November.

“He [Lugar] did not run a campaign recognizing the lessons … of the 2010 [midterm] election,” an anonymous GOP strategist told The Hill, “He could have defined Mourdock early on, and failed to do so.”

For Lugar to “define” Mourdock required he first define himself. Since 2010, establishment Republicans have scrambled to co-opt those around the Tea Party periphery by claiming the meaningless title “conservative,” with Mitt Romney being the most glaring example.

Not all Tea Party enthusiasts buy into this cynical strategy, however. “This will be my first primary vote,” Indianapolis resident and Mourdock supporter Nick Ellis told me, “I’m making sure I count now more than ever to ensure my Indiana is an example to all other RINOs out there,” saying he wants establishment Republicans to pay at the ballot box for their “betrayal.”

“36 years is enough,” said Ellis of the veteran Indiana Senator, “enough time to become corrupted by the D.C. political machine and to lose sight of the core values of the state you represent.”

A strong Second Amendment supporter, Ellis noted, “Lugar’s F-rating with the NRA didn’t help his cause either. I mean, how does a Republican from Indiana receive an F-rating?”

In a piece written in support of Lugar, former presidential speechwriter and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan said, “What Washington needs is sober and responsible adults. We are as a nation in a moment of real peril, facing challenges that are going to become existential – maybe already are – if we don’t do something about them.”

What Noonan and her fellow establishmentarians fail to grasp is that many Hoosiers have patiently waited 36 years for Lugar to grow up and face these existential perils. Indiana’s Tea Party realists came to the conclusion that Lugar was much too old a dog to teach new tricks.

“The main stream media keeps insisting the Tea Party is dead,” Nick Ellis reminds me, “But if the polls are any reflection of today’s outcome – that certainly doesn’t seem to be the case.”

Lugar’s departure from Washington’s political theatre of the absurd proves that reports of the Tea Party’s death are greatly exaggerated.

Lugar Republicans would be wise to take note, grow up, and seriously confront the perils facing the nation.

In the end, our survival is your political survival.

A political reality is that Americans will need to enthusiastically support the candidacy of whoever gets the Republican nomination for President as Justice Scalia just turned 78, Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year, Justice Breyer will be 76 in August, and Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago.

While we should wish them all well, the fact is that there’s a high probability the person elected President in November will appoint one or more new members to the Supreme Court along with many other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.

So while it’s not certain the Republican nominee would make any better appointments than Obama, his past suggests his appointments would all be socialists leaving us no choice but to vote for anybody but Obama. We must also pray that people professing to believe in God will demand the 99.7% plus of our so called “churches” that are incorporated businesses un-incorporate for America must again bless God if God is to again bless America. Unfortunately, these “churches” have chosen a Secretary of State as their creator and since a created can’t be greater than its creator, the State is their god; all in violation of the First Commandment.

Anyone doubting that the State is god to these churches should have their pastor preach the gospel as it pertains to liberty (Gal. 5:1) and usury and urge the church’s members to get politically active and see what happens.

No one these days has a good word to say for paternalism, the notion that someone else not only knows what is best for another person, but that he has the right and even the duty to encourage or make the other person comply with what he thinks is best. Thus one of the sacred principles of contemporary medical ethics is the autonomy of the patient: his right to make an informed decision on what medical treatment, if any, to have, even should his decision be foolish.
In order to uphold the principle of patient autonomy, people in especially vulnerable positions – prisoners, for example – are not to be offered rewards for agreeing either to treatment or to participation in experiments. But evidently there are limits to our belief in patient autonomy.
A paper in the April 19th New England Journal of Medicine describes the effect of giving a single dose of albendazole, a drug that eliminates intestinal parasites such as roundworm and hookworm, to refugees from Africa and Asia …

WASHINGTON, May 7, 2012 — Changes in the wording of Selective Service System record-keeping requirements, made days after the opening of an investigation into the alleged forgery of President Barack Obama’s selective service registration form, raise serious questions about U.S. Government intentions.

The new rules allow existing copies of documents that may be sought by investigators to be destroyed.

The Selective Service System’s new privacy rules were published in the Federal Register on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, four days after the September 16 announcement by World Net Daily that the Maricopa County (Arizona) Sheriff’s Office “Cold Case Posse” was opening an inquiry with full subpoena power into alleged forgery of several documents concerning Obama’s birth and draft registration.

The new rules, which constitute the first update to Selective Service System privacy regulations in eleven years, were published under the title, “Privacy Act of 1974; Publication of Notice of Systems of Records.” (Read more here...)

El Presidente Chávez is probably dying and Fidel Castro has warned about blood (not Chávez’ blood) in the streets.
He may well be right, for the wrong reasons.

It's warm. Let's turn up the heat a bit.

Venezuela became a mess, gradually, after el Presidente Chávez took over the government in 1999. Change came slowly for a few years but eventually the pace accelerated; although spluttering off in different directions, that acceleration continues. As I noted here,

Chávez’ initiatives increased dramatically in number and in magnitude only when he was well into his seemingly endless terms in office. Maybe he had heard the story of the frog put into a pleasantly warm but slowly heating pot of water. The frog failed to realize until too late that he was being boiled for dinner. By then the frog had become unable to jump out of the pot.

The article linked above summarizes how el Presidente consolidated power to the point that his control over all mechanisms of governance became complete, albeit generously shared with Cuba. Unlike his power over things governmental, however, his power over his own body is limited and that seems to be the controlling force now.

When it was strongly rumored that Chávez had a serious cancer problem he denied it vigorously and chastised as liars those from the disloyal anti-Venezuelan political opposition those who had said so. He finally acknowledged that he had had cancer but that, due to fatherly advice from el comandante Castro and the advanced medical competence el comandante had brought to Cuba, he had been cured and was cancer free. Then, he found it necessary to make multiple visits to Cuba for chemotherapy and later for radiotherapy.

He keeps going and coming back, briefly.

During ~~a public spectacle~~ mass in early April of this year while on a brief visit to Venezuela, he

wept and asked God to spare his life during a pre-Easter Mass after returning from his latest session of cancer treatment in Cuba.

He says the latest surgery was successful, that he is recovering well and will be fit to win a new six-year term at an election in October. Yet big questions remain about his future, and on Thursday the strain appeared to show.

In a televised speech to the Catholic service in his home state of Barinas Thursday, Chavez cried and his voice broke as he eulogized Jesus, revolutionary fighter Ernesto “Che” Guevara and South American independence hero Simon Bolivar.

“Never forget that we are the children of giants … I could not avoid some tears,” the former soldier said, his parents and other relatives looking on from the church rows.

“Give me your crown, Jesus. Give me your cross, your thorns so that I may bleed. But give me life, because I have more to do to for this country and these people. Do not take me yet,” Chavez added, standing below an image of Jesus with the Crucifix. (stricken to added).

Perhaps he has found his God.

Chavez’s voice cracked with emotion as he bade farewell to aides and supporters in Caracas on April 30 before leaving for what he said would be his final round of cancer treatment in Cuba.

“I’m sure our Christ will do it again, continuing making the miracle,” Chavez said as he raised his cross to his lips and kissed it, prompting applause from an audience of aides.

If Chavez survives cancer, political analysts say his increasing religiosity could pay election-year dividends in a country where Catholicism remains influential.

“Given that he cannot hide the illness, but he can hide its characteristics and danger, he’s decided to take as much advantage of it as he can, and one advantage is the symbolic and religious issue,” said Luis Vicente Leon, a Venezuelan pollster and analyst. “He’ll present himself as the chosen one, the man who has been cured and healed by the Lord to continue governing the country.”

“I have great faith in what we’re doing, in this intense undertaking against the illness that ambushed me last year, and I have faith, I repeat, in God,” said Chavez, who looked pale and bloated.

“It’s like a pact with God, with Christ my Lord,” Chavez said. “I’m sure he will lay on a hand so that this treatment, which we’re rigorously following, will have supreme success.” (Emphasis added.)

Currently he is back in Cuba seeking additional fatherly advice from el comandante, and now presumably from Jesus as well, along with the blessings of Cuban medicine. The Venezuelan bond market is rallying in anticipation of his death.

May 7 (Bloomberg) — Debt traders are bidding up the bonds of state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela SA as they envision a nation without President Hugo Chavez that may free the oil producer from a tax rate as high as 95 percent.

The Venezuelan stock market has also been up and the “Market Index is now up 135.61% for the year to date.”

According to Press TV, Chávez now needs a wheelchair because of a “fracture in his femur” suffered during radiotherapy in Cuba. Quite possibly misdirected or excessive doses of radiation damaged some of his bones. Or perhaps the cancer of which he had been cured, having failed to hear that he had been cured, metastasized into his bones and weakened them.

US-based Venezuelan Doctor Jose Marquina, who reportedly has access to Chavez’s medical records, has also claimed that Chavez’s “incurable disease is a very aggressive cancer that is progressing very quickly.”

Chavez this week established a new Council of State, intended to act as an advisory committee, which has fueled rumors about his deteriorating health conditions.

Roger Noriega, a writer who has generally been correct or nearly so in his assessments of Chávez’ medical condition, claims that

When an imperious bully like Fidel Castro starts to fear, his instinct is to try to sow fear among his enemies. Today, with his student and benefactor, Venezuelan leader Hugo Chávez, dying of cancer, what the Cuban dictator fears most is that his bankrupt regime in Havana is about to lose billions in critical aid and oil.

So, in an April 27 essay entitled, What Obama Knows, Castro conjures a “river of blood” in Venezuela if the Chavista movement is forced from power by the “oligarchy” or “overthrown” by the United States.

Neither the United States nor the “oligarchy,” a fragmented Venezuelan opposition with few means at its disposal, is likely even to attempt violently to overthrow Chávez.

It would come as a surprise to President Obama that he is advocating the overthrow of the Chávez government. The passive policy of the U.S. government is to maintain commercial relations with that country and to wish the Venezuelan people well. What has Castro so alarmed is the intensified effort of U.S. law enforcement — primarily the Drug Enforcement Administration and Department of the Treasury — to hold officials of the Chávez regime accountable for their complicity with drug trafficking and terrorism.

It is extraordinary, to say the least, that targeting drug kingpins in Venezuela is perceived as aggression against the government in Caracas. But that is an indictment of the senior leadership of the Chavista regime, hardly the fault of U.S. policy. (Emphasis added.)

That targeting drug kingpins is seen as aggression against the Venezuelan Government is hardly surprising; they have increasingly become leading figures in government and Chávez’ strongest allies.

If and when Chávez dies or otherwise becomes too incapacitated to govern or even to seek reelection, and if and when that becomes generally known — they may not happen simultaneously — what will happen?

Takeover of the state by a group of interdependent Chavistas?

With or without violence?

With or without Chávez’ blessing?

Emergence of a single Chavista head of state and the elimination of all rivals?

With or without violence?

With or without Chávez’ blessing?

Fair and peaceful elections?

The possibilities are listed above in the order of probability that I consider most likely. What does this sentence mean in Chávez’ radio broadcast on May 7th from Cuba announcing that he will soon return to Venezuela?

We have to keep strengthening our leadership, and… when I say leadership it’s not only the leadership I exercise, but rather collective leadership.(Emphasis added.)

In any event, something appears to be happening.

- In Chavez’ absence, the financial part of the Government is sitting there doing nothing. Giordani does not listen to Jaua, Merentes is ignored. The Central Bank needs a bond issue of either PDVSA or Venezuela bonds to supply its SITME foreign exchange system, but absent the All Mighty, nobody dares make the decision and he has paid little attention to the matter.

- Reporters in Caracas are seeing more contacts from high Government officials, curiously all of those with Presidential aspirations, than they have seen in thirteen years. Jaua sends half a dozen press releases every day, Ramirez has been calling reporters that he blacklisted in the past, Jorge Rodriguez thinks he could be anointed successor, while Diosdado has become the traveling President of the National assembly. Even Aristobulo has shown some interest. Only Maduro has been quiet on that front, which may mean absolutely nothing no matter what Bocaranda may say.

- After talking to many people, I came away with a feeling that Chavez may name a new Vice-President, Jaua is simply not liked, but he will not name a successor any time soon. This is better for the opposition and a very dangerous game for the revolution. If Chavez is not seen in public designating someone as the the heir to his revolutionary ideals, there will be a fight to death among various Chavista factions.

Is Chávez’ control over the Venezuelan press diminishing? How about that of his underlings seeking preeminence for themselves?

At least one thing has become clear: Chávez and his once merry band are economical with the truth. In 2008 P.J. O’Rourke said of France,

France is a treasure to mankind. French ideas, French beliefs, and French actions form a sort of loadstone for humanity. Because a moral compass needle needs a butt end. Whatever direction France is pointing in—toward Nazi collaboration, Communism, existentialism, Jerry Lewis movies, or President Sarkozy’s personal life—you can go the other way with a clear conscience.

The Chavista government is much the same although far worse because no matter what it may say it is prudent to consider the opposite as more likely accurate. The problem is that aside from simple statements such as “I do not have cancer,” there is no single opposite; there are many contradictory possibilities from which to choose and each has multiple permutations.

A well known principle of physics manifests itself in these circumstances: Nature abhors a vacuum. When sufficient lies and half-truths are told to shield the people from unpleasant reality and the truth is concealed, speculation fills the vacuum. That process is rampant in Venezuela. Incredible though it may seem, contemporary examples of that process can be found even in the United States.

EUCLID, Ohio – Mitt Romney stood on a factory floor here Monday as a woman asked him what he would do as president to “restore our Constitution in this country.” She asserted that President Obama was operating outside the construction of the nation’s founding document and that “he should be tried for treason.”

Judging by the applause, many in the crowd of about 500 people at a town hall meeting seemed to agree.

Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, did not admonish the woman for suggesting that Obama be tried for treason. He did not refer to the woman’s comment at all. Instead, he repeated his talking points about the Constitution and his pledge to repeal Obama’s health-care overhaul.

“I happen to believe that the Constitution was not just brilliant, but probably inspired,” Romney said. “I believe the same thing about the Declaration of Independence.”

After his town hall meeting finished, reporters from The Washington Post and the New York Times asked Romney as he shook hands at the rope line whether he agreed with the woman’s statement.

“No, no,” Romney said, shaking his head. “No, of course not.”

Later, Romney told CNN: “I don’t correct all of the questions that get asked of me. Obviously I don’t agree that he should be tried.”

Obama campaign spokeswoman Lis Smith accused Romney of having “failed” to stand up to “hateful” rhetoric.

“Time after time in this campaign, Mitt Romney has had the opportunity to show that he has the fortitude to stand up to hateful and over-the-line rhetoric, and time after time, he has failed to do so,” Smith said in a statement. “If this is the ‘leadership’ he has shown on the campaign trail, what can the American people expect of him as commander-in-chief?”

Republican Sen. Richard G. Lugar of Indiana, a 35-year member of the Senate and one of Washington’s leading experts on U.S. foreign policy, lost his bid for reelection Tuesday after a conservative backlash inside the GOP denied him his party’s nomination for a seventh term.

Lugar’s loss — the first for a senator this year — appears to be another victory for the tea party conservatives who roiled the Republican Party in 2010 when they defeated two GOP senators in primaries and knocked off several more establishment favorites in open Senate primaries.

With 80 percent of the precincts reporting in Indiana, state Treasurer Richard Mourdock was ahead of Lugar, 60 percent to 40 percent.

I heard last week that President Obama’s actually gave some $1.500,000,000.00 to the Muslim Brotherhood. If you aren’t familiar with them, allow me to enlighten you. The Muslim Brotherhood are the fine folks who took possession of Egypt last year. This came immediately after they’d offered up the “Arab Spring ” in several other Middle Eastern countries and essentially seized control of them. In the end, here’s the situation we find ourselves in. Israel is surrounded by enemies, and our President’s donating $1.5 Large to an organization dedicated to arming, funding and supporting Hamas, Hezbollah and Al Qaeda. Now, before you decide to scream at me, please read the above link. Then you’ll understand: The Muslim Brotherhood bore the top three terrorist organizations on the planet.

If the above wasn’t enough

If the above weren’t enough to get my blood pressure to the boiling point, this next bit of information blew my head off. According to Fox News and several other news organizations, we now find out that this President is not only releasing terrorist from the comfy confines of Cuba, he is doing so at the behest of the Afghanistan government. Why? It turns out that the Afghanistan government made this request to Barack Obama on the behalf of the Taliban! What part of “terrorist organization” is he missing? Not only do the Taliban hold their women in religious bondage, but they are flipping TERRORISTS! I have one very serious question for Barack Obama. When did it become the policy of the United States to start cowering to terrorist demands, on behalf of second-rate crooked leaders from third world countries? This President, I believe, has now officially crossed the line into treason. The very people that we capture on the battle field and send to jail in Cuba, he releases, so that they can return and kill more of our boys and girls. It is absolutely beyond my capability to articulate the hatred I have in my heart for this man. I simply do not have the words. And that even before I think about the fact that he gives them our tax dollars, too.

The icing on the cake

The icing on the cake is that the good old boys from Occupy are out on the prowl again. These, however, are not your run-of-the-mill protesters. They are, wait for it, wait patiently, here you go, ready for it? They are being funded by the fine folks at The Tides Foundation, the AFL-CIO, SEIU, The American Communist Party, The American Socialist Party and many, other patriotic organizations. Does any of the above ring a bell for you? The AFL-CIO/SEIU were Obama’s largest financial supporters in the last election. Good old Andy Stern and Richard Trumka donated a combined $400,000,000.00 to Mr. Hope and Change. The Tides Foundation is the arm that funds Moveon.org & Media Matters, whom we all know are George Soros’ pets. See how this is all coming full-circle?

My theory is this

My theory is this (and my gosh, I do hope and pray I am wrong): I’m afraid that these Occupy radicals are going to crank up and cause an enormous amount of trouble in America this summer. They’re going to cause incredible social unrest. We will have cities burning, people dying. Now we’re aware that Barack Obama wins by causing division in our society. He creates illusions of: We all need to do our fair share, We all need to let everyone have a fair shake and yada, yada and more yada– as if any person in a tax bracket over $12,000 a year does nothing at all.

Everyone’s thinking the same thing, but I suppose I will be the first to have the courage to say it. Here’s what we all know. The Obama Administration ordered some 600M rounds of ammunition from ATK in Anoka, MN, last March. It’s certain that Obama is a globalist– who either doesn’t have America’s best interests at heart or just flat-out is trying to destroy her. George Soros has sworn to take down America and her capitalistic systems, and he has a bought and paid for boy named Barack Obama. Isn’t it a plausible theory that Obama and Soros are planning for America to burn this summer, then do something really stupid– martial law? Yes, I know, now your saying to yourself : ” The Old Crow ” has gone off his rocker. Maybe so. I’m not making allegations that this is what’s going on, but merely tossing the theory out there. You can see for yourselves what this guy has done, America!

No White House occupant in our nation’s history has done what this guy has. He has zero regard for our Constitution, he has zero respect for our nation when he travels abroad– up to and including insulting our heritage as a nation. He is very obviously on the United Nations bandwagon and has no respect for our sovereignty. He has in fact ordered 600M rounds of hollow point ammunition for 4o caliber pistols and AK-47′s, which are used by Homeland Security and U.N. forces. He has Soros bank-rolling street thugs who are trashing our cities. I honestly don’t think that we’ll have a very peaceful summer in America this year. I honestly believe we are being set-up for what might very well be one of the most dangerous eras, both Constitutionally and civilly, in our history since 1863.

My suggestion, America? Pray, and pray hard. Get out and work hard this time for the good guys. Ensure that we can garner a majority in the Senate and retain the House. You know as well as I do– if Obama wins re-election we are most certainly doomed. Let me assure you: I truly don’t mean to be a fear monger. But I’m reading the tea leaves. America, they do not look good.

Governance of a free people requires their continuously earned trust. Verification is needed to preserve that trust when it is justified and to destroy that trust when it is no longer justified.
That is not solely the function of the principal media.

Governance with decreasing mutual trust requires the use of ever increasing compulsion if not physical force. Of the many problems facing the United States, a well deserved lack of trust in Government may be the greatest.

The media have been our principal source of information about the Government.

Governments can control the media by providing comforting but misleading information to get incumbents reelected. That can involve slanting information for political purposes. As noted in The Daily Beast, that seems to have been done during the recent China – Chen kerfuffle. When, as commonly happens, the media fail to follow up governmental mendacity can be effective.

Is the White House trying to insulate the president from the unfolding drama in China? Of course they are.

This latest compromise is unlikely to get substantial direct comment from the White House, save general approval of the ultimate result achieved, as the president has been all too happy to leave Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to deal with the fiasco and maintained his administration’s silence on Chen Guangcheng’s fate when asked about it at a joint news conference with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda on Monday.

His silence is a political judgment designed to try to stem any erosion in his political position from a foreign policy snafu that casts a shadow over what had been a weeklong foreign-policy victory lap by the Obama administration–from the one-year anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s killing to the president’s surprise visit to Afghanistan.

Might the same SOP (Save Our President) mechanism have been involved in the killing of Osama Bin Laden? Should it turn out well, President Obama apparently was to get as much credit as possible for decisively masterful leadership; if it flopped, was he to be shielded from all blame? Does President Obama have an overwhelming compulsion to be loved and reelected? That is not a good thing in a president. According to Governor Christie,

When you’re looking for love in this job, that’s when deficits get run up. . . .When you’re looking for love in this job, it’s because you can’t say no to anything because someone somewhere won’t love you if you do.

Our culture also controls the media and to that extent the statement “whoever controls the media, the images, controls the culture” is tautological — i.e., whoever controls the culture controls the culture. Our culture does in large part control the media because consumers decide what to view, listen to and read — and therefore what continues to be presented. If programming fails to get and to keep our interest and approval it eventually ceases to be presented. Many probably make their choices based on their perceptions of reality, a desire for popularity and/or desires for short, sensational stories. When the killing of Trayvon Martin became news, most media coverage was grossly distorted. In some cases that may have been due to sloppiness and inadvertence but in others it was almost certainly intentional.

In a story for the “Today” show on March 20, Luciano used part of the George Zimmerman 911 call in which an entire phrase (italicized below) was taken from a later part of the conversation:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good or on drugs or something. He’s got his hand in his waistband. And he’s a black male.

Dispatcher: Are you following him?

Zimmerman: Yeah.

Dispatcher: Okay, we don’t need you to do that.

But here is how Zimmerman’s conversation with the 911 dispatcher actually went:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.

Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he white, black, or Hispanic?

Zimmerman: He looks black. (Emphasis in original.)

Why is that sort of thing done? Is hate what makes the world go ’round? Had that tape and others similarly edited been broadcast without deceptive editing they would have energized few. True, there was a concerted push for racial disharmony from the Reverend Mr. Sharpton and his colleagues, but the media did little to look behind (or even carefully at) what it was reporting. Some in the new media eventually did so and bits of their work are coming out; still, the harm done by our principal media lingers.

The paucity of readily verifiable legitimacy transcends the immediate Trayvon Martin inflammation. It seems probable that the number of conspiracy theories exceeds the number of actual conspiracies. All tend therefore to be impaled upon a dull sword of illegitimacy so that anything that can be labeled a “conspiracy theory” is likely to be rejected. For quite a long time, the cry prevailed that President Clinton had not dallied with Ms. Lewinsky in the Oval Office or with anyone else anywhere else but was instead being persecuted by a vast right wing conspiracy. Then came the stained blue dress. More recently, former President Clinton shared his expertise with vast right wing conspiracies as they impact upon President Obama:

When asked whether the “vast right-wing conspiracy” is still present today, the former president answered without hesitation, “Oh you bet.”

“It’s not as strong as it was because America has changed demographically, but it’s as virulent as it was,” Clinton said today on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

“Right-wing conspiracy” was the term used by former first lady Hillary Clinton to describe the tactics her husband’s political enemies used to attack his presidency after revelations of his affair with Monica Lewinski.

“I mean they may be hurting President Obama,” Bill Clinton said of the current attacks. “They can take his numbers down, they can run his opposition up, but fundamentally he and his team have a positive agenda for America. Their agenda seems to be wanting him to fail, and that’s not a good prescription for a good America.

“I mean, they’re saying things about him just like when they accused me of murder and all this stuff they did, but it’s not really good for the Republicans or the country, what’s going on now,” Clinton said.

The “birther” movement persists but is generally rejected as an extreme right wing conspiracy theory, even though less credible and extensive information has been provided about President Obama’s relevant background than an informed electorate should have; much of the little that has been provided has been of dubious provenance and legitimacy and has therefore been less than fully credible. The “extreme, right wing birther movement” has been a result. Anything characterized as “extreme” is seen as bad. “Insane” could probably be substituted for “extreme” and child molester for “right wing” with similar effect.

The most recent “extreme right wing conspiracy theory” involves federal detention and reeducation centers. The ambiguity of President Obama’s March 16th executive order lends at least some credence to that theory.

Orders can be modified in facially innocuous ways to make them less ambiguous; that is often a good thing because it can limit the unbridled authority of those acting under them. However, orders can also be modified to make them more ambiguous.

Purposeful ambiguity seems to have infected President Obama’s March 16th order.

According to this post,

A leaked U.S. Army document prepared for the Department of Defense contains shocking plans for “political activists” to be pacified by “PSYOP officers” into developing an “appreciation of U.S. policies” while detained in prison camps inside the United States.

The manual outlines policies for processing detainees into internment camps both globally and inside the United States. International agencies like the UN and the Red Cross are named as partners in addition to domestic federal agencies including the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA.

The document makes it clear that the policies apply “within U.S. territory” and involve, “DOD support to U.S. civil authorities for domestic emergencies, and for designated law enforcement and other activities,” including “man-made disasters, accidents, terrorist attacks and incidents in the U.S. and its territories.”

The manual states, “These operations may be performed as domestic civil support operations,” and adds that “The authority to approve resettlement such operations within U.S. territories,” would require a “special exception” to The Posse Comitatus Act, which can be obtained via “the President invoking his executive authority.” The document also makes reference to identifying detainees using their “social security number.”

Here is the text of the lengthy (326 page) manual, written in bureaucrat-speak. The information provided above about the Posse Comitatus Act and presidential waiver of its provisions to permit federal military activity during domestic civilian disorders was taken from page 193 of the manual. Information about the functions of PSYOPS (psychological operations) teams within the camps is set forth at pages 194 – 201 of the manual. It can be frightening or perhaps comforting depending on one’s trust, interpretation and the degree to which evident ambiguities are ignored or penetrated. For example, the manual provides,

The supporting I/R PSYOP team has two missions that reduce the need to divert military police assets to maintain security in the I/R facility. (See appendix J.) The team—

♦ Assists the military police force in controlling detainees and DCs. [Displaced Civilians]

♦ Introduces detainees or DCs to U.S. and multinational policy.

3-56. The PSYOP team also supports the military police custodial mission in the I/R facility. The team—

♦ Develops PSYOP products that are designed to pacify and acclimate detainees or DCs to accept U.S. I/R facility authority and regulations.

♦ Gains the cooperation of detainees or DCs to reduce the number of guards needed.

♦ Identifies malcontents, trained agitators, and political leaders within the facility who may try to organize resistance or create disturbances.

♦ Develops and executes indoctrination programs to reduce or remove antagonistic attitudes.

♦ Identifies political activists.

♦ Provides loudspeaker support (such as administrative announcements and facility instructions when necessary).

♦ Helps the military police commander control detainee and DC populations during emergencies.

♦ Plans and executes a PSYOP program that produces an understanding and appreciation of U.S. policies and actions.

Suppose (as now seem likely) that Mr. Zimmerman is not convicted of murdering Mr. Martin. In the event of riots beyond what local authorities may be able to manage conveniently, might civilians be relocated to federal detention facilities? Perhaps to help them over any perceived need to protect themselves? Might PSYOP personnel be used to reeducate them? What if the economy fails to the point that there are riots approaching those in Greece? Any number of scenarios can be imagined, and the natures of those to be imagined are functions of our own levels of trust in government; those levels are in turn functions of our perceptions of how much trust the government has earned and still deserves.

President Obama, along with his administration, has failed to deserve the trust of a free people and to an unsurprising degree it has been withheld. Will his campaign pleas that we continue to believe in him work?

Fighting to recapture the magic of his history-making 2008 campaign, President Barack Obama on Saturday laid out his fullest-yet case for reelection, pleading with struggling Americans to “keep believing in me” and hitting out at presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

“If people ask you what this campaign is about, you tell them ‘it’s still about hope.’ You tell them ‘it’s still about change,’” he told a cheering mass of supporters at Ohio State University in Columbus, six months and one day before the election. “I still believe in you. And I’m asking you to keep believing in me.”

It seems rather a narcissistic if not messianic approach. Will it work as well for President Obama as Tinker Bell’s plea that we believe in fairies worked for her?

While no president can earn the trust of all, President Obama’s efforts have appeared to be duplicitous and polarizing. Despite media efforts to help him along his chosen path, the transparency of his efforts has become manifestly apparent. As I observed here, should President Obama be reelected it seems likely that

he will do far more to advance his agendas than he has done thus far — after his reelection, he will have no need to campaign for reelection and will have no need to seek any consensus as to anything he can get away with “with or without the Congress.” There will be little to keep him from further weakening our nation and diminishing the rights of her citizens. Those are the only things I trust him to do.

A duplicitous and divisive president, lacking not only the trust of free people but concerns about being reelected, is unlikely to govern fairly, justly and well. Lacking such a presidential trinity, Government must rely increasingly on compulsion and even, at some point, upon force.

Having rather transparently sought to divide the nation along racial, ideological, cultural and economic lines, there is little that President Obama can do to make amends. No need to make amends may even be apparent to him.

Arrogance begets arrogance. The United States was born out of a reaction to imperial flunkies who truly believed that they could behave as vaingloriously as their monarch and his corrupt nobility. The Bourbons were brought down not so much by their own actions (Louis XVI was in fact something of reformer) as those of their out-of-control bureaucrats. It’s no different today. We see it in the GSA scandal, the Secret Service hooker scandal, and above all in the Justice Department’s Fast and Furious scandal. All these result from hirelings mimicking the activities and attitudes of their bosses, including their ultimate boss in the Oval Office. Each is rooted, and obviously so to even to most blasé observer, in arrogance. Fast and Furious reveals the blueprint: a crazy scheme (gun-running on one hand, ObamaCare on the other) that no commonsense individual would ever consider for a moment put into play despite protests, disaster ensuing by leaps and bounds, deliberately ignored because the scheme “has to work,” a climax amounting to complete collapse, with the protagonist (Holder, Obama) acting as if none of it has anything to do with him, as if he can simply walk off without so much as a word spoken.

Obama believes exactly that. So pure is his arrogance, so exalted his narcissism, that he will do nothing to defend himself out of the conviction that no such thing is required of him. That he, among all human beings alive in the second decade of the third millennium, does not need to respond under any circumstance. This is the difference between Obama and previous administrations — Richard M. Nixon and Ronald Reagan worked like stevedores to overcome Watergate and Iran Contra, Nixon with no success while Reagan at last put it behind him. But Obama, exactly like his appointees, doesn’t think he has to make any defense at all. He truly believes that he can’t be touched. (The other difference between these scandals and earlier ones is that hundreds have died as a result of this administration’s activities.) [Links added.]

That fits well with President Obama new campaign slogan, “Forward!” We must not look behind at his past if he is to be reelected (it’s great to look back to the reign of George Bush the Wicked, however).

If President Obama succeeds in his quest for reelection without having earned the trust of a free people, he is unlikely to earn it during a second term. We are then likely to have an even rougher four years, during which he will have fewer constraints and far more flexibility to do as he sees fit — and not only as to our nascent missile defense system that has Russia sufficiently upset for Russian Chief of General Staff Nikolai Makarov to suggest the possibility of a preemptive strike. President Obama’s post election flexibility will be at the expense of our freedoms. Must we, as former Speaker Pelosi told us about ObamaCare, ~~pass the bill~~ reelect President Obama so that we can see what’s really in him and what he will do during a second term in office?

I am a threat. This is not about any loss of freedom you are about to experience but is about the lack of freedoms you currently have. The following account just happened to me, personally, as I recently crossed the border from Canada to the US. Many of you do not know me, but I am one of the founders of Conservative Daily. As a founder, I set out to create an environment where we could fight for freedom, fight for better moral and ethical direction, but even more importantly fight to hold those in positions of trust and power accountable. Every day, we research, draft and develop new ways to fight against the bureaucratic nightmare that we face as a nation, and to reveal the shame many that we call leaders have brought to our great nation.

I went to Canada to attend the Malibu Young Life Camp, a camp that is the definition of God’s paradise. The camp sits on the Princess Louisa Inlet, and has some 5500 visiting campers a year. It is a Christian camp that seeks to give teenagers a week of fun, faith, and fellowship. A week, that as I discovered, brings people back some fifty years later. We were there to help get the camp back in order for the forthcoming summer season, which as it turns out, led me to 6 days of very hard labor laying about 30 tons of slate for a pathway to one of the newly donated buildings. I would complain, but the truth is, no matter how sore my knees are (or the rest of my body for that matter), the friendship and fellowship we experienced this week made it all worth it.

We headed back to the US through the CBP (Customs and Border Patrol) station at Aldergrove. I was traveling with my in-laws, as this was my first time at Malibu “volunteering”. Now, I am a regular traveler with a passport that reads of trips to Africa and the Middle East. I have worked on several projects in pretty controversial areas, and with sometimes very controversial people. I do so, to seek understanding, and to seek peace. My motivations are never about money and do not put me in any situations where I could or would compromise the US or our standings on foreign policy or domestic policy regardless of how right or wrong I may see the current direction.

A couple of years back, I made it onto a list. I have no idea how I made it to that list, or what prompted their adding me to the list, but nonetheless, I get “special” treatment, every time I re-enter the US. The agents are always courteous and respectful, and they are always just as stunned as to why I would make it on anyone’s list. Normally, I answer their questions and after about an hour, I am free to go.

This time, though… this time it was very different. This time, they searched the car we were riding in three times. They interrogated me four times. They took my wallet, and made copies (in plain sight) of every credit card in my wallet. They took my computer, and made copies of the contents of my entire hard drive, including intimate letters between me and my wife, emails, pictures, and other writings and documents. They went through my cell phone, and disappeared into a “lab” in the back after asking me if it was password protected. They gawked over the three of us (my in-laws as well) as they all poured into the “lab”. Several of them pointed at us over and over again as other agents (12 or so in total) came in to watch as they interrogate their suspect.

Suspect of what? Maybe they discovered that I in fact did some charitable work in Malibu. Or maybe they discovered that every year, my wife and I donate a wedding on the 4th of July to an active military couple as a symbol of our gratitude toward all the men and women who serve our great country. Maybe they discovered that I am a father of two honor students, or that I am the volunteer (unpaid) Executive Director for a Non-Profit that the IRS has taken two years to neither approve or deny. Maybe they discovered that I am a founder of Conservative Daily, and that I stand for our rights under the Constitution. Maybe they do not like the many times I spoke (albeit respectfully and honorably) about the loss of those rights and the lack of accountability of the “middle management” of our government. Not just our federal government but our state and local municipalities as well. Maybe someone on the other end of the state department has deemed me a threat, because I stand for you, as you stand for your neighbor. Maybe they just figured out that Americans are waking up from a deep slumber of complacency and inaction.

Any way you interpret what they did to me, they personally violated my rights as an American, and they did so with reckless impunity. As I watched my mother in law become increasingly concerned as they searched the car a second time, and then a third. They watched as they took me into a room and after three hours attempted to sneak my computer bag back into the car. My computer does track transfer or copying of files, and they could have been smart enough to realize that most people want to know when people are looking at their private information.

Over the years, I viewed the questions and answers that I have endured when re-entering the US as a minor inconvenience. I had not been concerned and I certainly have not let them control my emotions. I have learned to carefully space my final flight home in the US long enough to accommodate this inconvenience. They were not going to get me angry or upset, for a certainly have nothing to hide.

Now, I see it quite differently. I see what they did as an escalation of things to come. A new barometer of what they see as acceptable. Violating our Constitutional rights is the new norm. The law states that you have no recourse, as they can decide whether you have a right to sue. Then when you do sue, you have to prove damages. After wading through the legal implications and bills associated with holding them accountable, the reality is you may not be able to sustain the fatigue of the fight. Neither can most of us afford it.

This brings up a whole new dynamic concerning your rights as an American. You have freedoms, until someone violates those freedoms, and then you are supposed to have options. What options do you really have? They will issue a memo denying wrongdoing, and you will cry foul. They will call you a delusional person with a victim complex, and you will fight, until you realize that fighting alone… is lonely. It is tiring, and it is depressing. Then they will say that when you were 21 you got arrested in a bar for fighting, or you got three speeding tickets, so obviously you’re a demon, who is trying to act innocent. Then they will say, you have been divorced, so you have to be bad. Or that you once went fishing without a license so we know what type of guy you are… Then the white noise of what really happened will be overshadowed by warts you really do not have, and what will be left, is you, holding the bag, wondering if the fight was ever worth it. By the way, I was not arrested for fighting in a bar or fishing without a license, although the other two things are accurate.

This is a story, I wish everyone would read. This is not a story of the IRS forcing me to close my business because of ridicule and persecution, but that could happen now. This is not a case of Obamacare destroying my ability to make a living, but this does happen. This is not even a case of injustice because I was beaten by authority. This is a case of social injustice, an invasion of privacy and a theft of information. This is the essence of our loss of freedoms as Americans.

When does it stop? And where does the rabbit trail lead? The definition of what happened to me, just yesterday is what each of you should be afraid of. I am not going to ask you to fax congress, or write a letter on my behalf. I am sharing this with all of you. 1.6 million people across the US who get our message so that you can understand the big problems are daunting but the ones you do not see, those are the ones that you should be afraid of, because those are the ones that take your freedoms long before big new laws have a chance to.

In the next two months we will be launching a campaign across the US with coalitions and partnerships with organizations that stand for those freedoms. We are going to ask people to stand at intersections, at grocery stores, and in public places telling about stories that have little meaning individually but collectively paint a picture of our country that we all need to see. Obama is a bad president, but our government is so big, and out of control, that if we do not stop it, and replenish and replace our leaders, we will face a certain future that is devastating and tragic.

On Saturday night, Rep. Allen West (R-FL) fired up conservatives at a Broward County Lincoln Day dinner in Fort Lauderdale.

Encouraging Republicans to “find the enemy and fight them wherever they are” like American paratroopers from the 101st and 82nd Airborne did the night before the D-day invasion, West said they “must be like sharks that smell blood in the water.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, you don’t win on defense. You win on offense,” he said.

West hit the left hard throughout his speech, and encouraged Republicans to “fight back against…liberal progressivism.”

He also went after the President for his economic policies and told them they would “be surprised” to learn where Obama got his ‘Forward‘ slogan from.

“This is a moral discussion we’ve having in this country, because we‘re talking about what we’re going to leave for our children and grandchildren,” he said.

”I feel sorry for them because for whatever reason they don’t know the essence of the greatness of the United States of America,” West said of American liberals, accusing them of engaging in “collective subjugation.”

“We must restore that sense of individual sovereignty,” he said, instead of collective subjugation.

He also warned them that “in the twinkle of an eye, we can lose this great nation.”

The audience applauded and cheered throughout his 19 minute speech, as he encouraged them with the zingers he has become well known for.

He closed by reminding them of the farewell speech given by Confederate General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson when he was promoted by Robert E. Lee.

“He said to his brigade they would always be first in his heart,” West said. “Broward County will always be first in my heart, and I will never forget you,” he told the crowd.

In this YouTube video from Walid Shoebat‘s site, Tom Trento, of United West, describes the recent collusion of the president of the United States with the terrorist group known as the Muslim Brotherhood. Besides heading United West, Tom Trento is the executive director of the Florida Security Council; both organizations “specialize in international terrorism research and grassroots activism.”

Mentioned in the YouTube presentation, The ISNA or Islamic Society of North America has been described by Islamic scholar Stephen Schwartz as “one of the chief conduits through which the radical Saudi form of Islam passes into the United States.” Furthermore, “according to terrorism expert Steven Emerson, ISNA ‘is a radical group hiding under a false veneer of moderation’; ‘convenes annual conferences where Islamist militants have been given a platform to incite violence and promote hatred’ (for instance, al Qaeda supporter and PLO official Yusuf Al-Qaradhawi was invited to speak at an ISNA conference); has held fundraisers for terrorists (after Hamas leader Mousa Marzook was arrested and eventually deported in 1997, ISNA raised money for his defense); has condemned the U.S. government’s post-9/11 seizure of Hamas’ and Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s financial assets; and publishes a bi-monthly magazine, Islamic Horizons, that ‘often champions militant Islamist doctrine.’”

One of the authors of the in-depth book entitled Shariah: The Threat to America, Tom Trento helped to expose the infiltration of the Muslim Brotherhood and its offshoots into the United States. In this well-documented text available to read online here, the Muslim Brotherhood’s tactics and ultimate desire for global sharia implementation are described. The Muslim Brotherhood’s “mission in the West is sedition in the furtherance of shariah’s supremacist agenda, not peaceful assimilation and co-existence with non-Muslim populations.”

And yet, Barack Hussein Obama not only invites this group which should be put on a terrorist watch list, but also writes out a check for $1.5 billion of American taxpayer money to assist their regime in Egypt. What conclusion can be made when a president gives money to a group bent on the destruction of the very country giving this money to them?

According to Israel Elad Altman in his 2009 research monograph entitled “Strategies of the Muslim Brotherhood Movement,” the Muslim Brotherhood, otherwise known as the Ikhwan:

… believes that its purposes in the West are, for the moment, better advanced by the use of non-violent, stealthy techniques. In that connection, the Muslim Brotherhood seeks to establish relations with, influence and, wherever possible, penetrate government circles in executive and legislative branches at the federal, state, and local levels; the law enforcement community; intelligence agencies; the military; penal institutions, the media; think tanks and policy groups; academic institutions, non-Muslim religious communities; and other elites. The Brothers engage in all of these activities and more for one reason: to subvert the targeted communities in furtherance of the Muslim Brother’s primary objective — the triumph of shariah.

Is this why Mr. Obama is giving moral and financial assistance to the Muslim Brotherhood? Is this why he surrounds himself with people who ardently support sharia implementation? Why is he never questioned by news reporters about his support of a terrorist organization and the implications for American security of such a strategy?

Tom Trento also runs the site WatchObsession.org, which highlights the ongoing terror tactics that have been used in countries as far away as Bali to those closer to home in the United States. This film underscores the violence of the Muslim Brotherhood offshoots such as Hezb’allah and Hamas. In fact, in “the Muslim Brotherhood’s own Explanatory memorandum the following groups are listed as ‘friends.’”

In fact, every terrorist attack sponsored by the jihadists is not a separate event but a well-coordinated declaration of war in the global attack against Western democracy and Judeo-Christian values.

Trento explains the anti-Christian, anti-Jewish philosophy of the Muslim Brotherhood and exhorts his “Jewish brothers and sisters” to please take note of the deadly intentions of the Muslim Brotherhood and their front organization, the ISNA.

This is particularly important as a new American Jewish Committee survey indicates that Obama’s Jewish numbers are on the rise. It is frankly inconceivable that three-fifths of American Jews still support this man, and while observers remain cautious about these AJC poll results, one wonders why they are at this level at all. Is it ignorance, indifference, or lack of perception that, given Obama’s anti-Jewish connections, Jews still adhere to the ideology of “Vote Democrat” no matter what?

In May 2011, three authors of Shariah: The Threat to America joined a new coalition entitled Israel: You’re Not Alone. Frank Gaffney, Gen. Jerry Boykin (ret.), and Tom Trento “addressed different points about America’s relationship with Israel.” A comment at this site was made by a respondent named Ron. He writes “that [he] Stand[s] With Israel and will support Israel in any and all ways that [he is] able. However, [he has] one question about Jews…..Why do Jews continue to support democrats just because their liberal views are more aligned with them. They voted 78% for Obama in 2008 and it appears they may support him again. Ron wonder[s] why [he] should even support Israel when the American Jews won’t help their own people by crossing over and voting for the republican party who will support and defend Israel? They didn’t learn a lesson when Obama just spit in their face? Geeez [sic].”

Geez, indeed! I wonder, too.

Tea Party poised for tectonic upset in Indiana Senate race

Richard Mourdock has surged past six-term incumbent U.S. Senator Dick Lugar in the latest poll ahead of Indiana’s GOP primary on Tuesday. UWEE caught up with Indiana Tea Party favorite on his Saturday afternoon stroll of Indiana’s Veterans Memorial Plaza in Indianapolis.

All signs suggest legendary Sen. Dick Lugar is going to lose Tuesday in a nationally watched Republican Party primary. That’s why I came to Indiana this weekend.

What I found was his likely conqueror, Richard Mourdock, walking around kissing babies and shaking hands with adults on Saturday at a Tea Party event. It was American retail politics at its best and most surreal.

Mourdock was prevented by Federal Election Commission (FEC) rules from appearing on stage at an event sponsored by the Political Action Committee (PAC) Freedom Works, but the FEC could not prevent Mourdock, the Indiana State Treasurer, from working the crowd at a Hoosier Conservatives Rally.

Certainly the government watchdog commission could not stop Mourdock from hugging Ginni Schneider, a loyal volunteer since before Mourdock’s most recent election to a two-year term as treasurer. “I love this man,” Schneider said with a big grin. “He’s Christian, he’s conservative, and he’s Republican. What more could we ask of him?”

In a scenario ripe for a “Daily Show” comedy skit critical of the Tea Party and PAC loopholes, Fox News commentator Michelle Malkin seemed ready to explode on the main stage because she was not able to point out Mourdock only a few yards away posing for pictures and signing autographs.

Mourdock — pronounced like Rupert’s last name — was unfazed. A widely respected poll released late Friday showed Mourdock enjoying a 10-point lead over Lugar, and Rick Santorum, Sarah Palin and Michele Bachman, have all provided endorsements.

“I’m so incredibly humbled by this turnout – this intra-party rebellion fueled by all these people who believe in the Tea Party,” Mourdock told me between a high five and kiss on the cheek of a woman standing next to him.

“I’ve run nine marathons in my life and when you make it to those last two miles, you stay steady. If you speed up, you cramp up. If you slow down, you run out of gas.”

What better metaphor could an Indiana politician have, with all those fast cars about to roar into town next weekend for the start of Indy 500 time trials?

This is the most hotly contested GOP primary race since Delaware Tea Partier Christine O’Donnell felt compelled to convince us she’s not a witch.

About 40 blocks to the north of the rally, Lugar has avid supporters from almost every walk of life — including a disabled father and son who said they won’t consider voting for anybody but Lugar in November. The reason they won’t consider voting for Lugar on Tuesday is because both are registered Democrats.

“Oh my, I remember Dick Lugar since he became mayor here back in ’67,” said David Holt Jr., whose father, David Sr., has to use a walker wherever they go on their evening strolls. “He’s always been such a strong supporter of Indiana, helping us out whenever he gets the chance. I think he has earned his seat.”

It’s a theme I heard time and again as I made my way through the upper, middle, and lower income neighborhoods north of Indianapolis. A young man living along Hampton Street was walking out his front door to work when I parked my rental car across the street.

“Lugar? He’s the man,” said Josh Padgett. “Everybody loves him. He’s been in office forever [since 1976] and has done more for Indiana than anyone I know.”

Young and old. Rich and poor. Black and white. Democrat and Republican. In these neighborhoods Lugar was revered.

But it’s a sentiment that Tea Party voters do not share. Not even close. Mourdock? He’s their man.

Running on a bare-bones budget during his successful campaign for reelection as state treasurer in 2010, Mourdock stunned political junkies across the country by carrying 62% of St. Joseph County – the home of U.S. Representative Joe Donnelly, a Democrat who will oppose either Mourdock or Lugar in November.

Tea Party hopes are higher than ever that Mourdock’s soft-spoken demeanor will be more attractive to Indiana’s independent voters than that of Lugar, an 80-year-old moderate who MSNBC called President Obama’s “favorite Republican.”

Nothing riles up hardcore Tea Partiers more than anyone willing to even consider working with Obama — even when it’s a powerful incumbent like Lugar, who has brought tens of millions of dollars in earmarks to this Norman Rockwell portrait of a state sandwiched between Illinois and Ohio.

“I don’t trust any word that comes out of Lugar’s mouth,” said Darryl Herbertz, who drove all the way from Louisville, Kentucky to cheer on his Tea Party favorite.

“He’s always pushing [the U.S.] into these United Nations treaties in violation of his own oath of office. He’s trying to sell our national security to foreigners. The guy is totally repulsive.”

Lugar has been politically hurt by a problematic legal residency issue. His primary residence in McLean, Virginia, and he needed the Indiana Supreme Court to rule that Lugar’s ownership of a family farm near Indianapolis qualified him to vote in the state. Tea Party pressure led to Lugar’s reimbursement of $14,000 for weekend hotel stays around Indiana when he comes to the state.

In the last days before Tuesday’s Republican primary, Lugar has unleashed millions of dollars in withering attack ads. To which Mourdock said this: “If certain people in this state want to try to divide America, well, we’re greater than that as a country.” A few minutes later a preacher prayed on stage for God’s favor in defeating Lugar this Tuesday.

A sign of just how bruising this campaign has become for Mourdock came toward the end of our five-minute conversation 30 yards north of the main stage.

“What all of these volunteers have done…” Mourdock’s voice halted, his eyes misting over. “I’ve had moments at home with my family where I just think about how far this campaign has come. It’s humbling to have so many great people around me as we fight for this victory.”

That’s the Obama trademark….subsidize anything not oil…..How can any true conservative republican approve of wasting billions of taxpayer money to pick winners & losers in agriculture? or any other private business. It’s called Ethanol. More billions of money has gone into this losing subsidy & it’s mandates then any other energy subsidies. After 30 years Ethanol is so inefficient that it still cannot stand on it own.

Even the environmentalists have stopped support for this because the environmental footprint is greater to produce a gallon of ethanol than a gallon of gas. You should consider Solondra a bargain compared to the Luger Solondra. Check where Dick Luger gets his money over the years? Start with the powerful corn lobby. Just one Dairy Farmers opinion, because I and others livestock people that compete against Ethanol for Corn are really tired of having our taxes used to put us out business.

This doesn’t ever consider the cost to the retail grocery shoppers at the grocery store. If you read your labels, 75% of processed foods has some form of corn or corn based product in the ingredients. High Fructose Corn Syrup is one common one, very bad for health. That’s why you are starting to see, “No High Fructose Corn Syrup” on labels! I found only Log Cabin Syrup at Walmart contains none. This was proudly touted across the front Label.

The others had in the ingredients first ingredient or second…….This is not syrup….it is manufactured as sugar alcohol from ethanol. So how about we drill for the oil we have, use the coal, the natural gas & stop burning up our food! For the first time ever in 2011 we burned up more corn, then we used for all sectors of livestock. Leave the technology to private developers to develop cost affective sources. You can’t pay your bills on ideology! Vote No On the King of Subsidy supporters

Jewish groups expressed shock at anti-Semitic teachings found on the website of the East End Madrassah — a religious program that runs every Sunday — that called ancient Jews “treacherous” and “crafty” and accused them of “conspiring to kill the Prophet Muhammad.”

The plan, which was to be carried out around the first anniversary of Osama bin Laden's killing by US forces, involved a sophisticated version of the device that failed to detonate on board a plane heading to Detroit on Christmas Day 2009, they added.
The CIA thwarted the latest plan by al Qaeda's branch in Yemen and the new device has been recovered. The FBI is examining the bomb to see whether it could have passed through airport security and brought down an aircraft, officials said.
They said the device did not contain metal, which means it probably could have passed through an airport metal detector. But it was not clear whether new body scanners used in many airports would have picked it up.

The human capacity for self-delusion truly is remarkable. Most people out there end up believing exactly what they want to believe even when the truth is staring them right in the face. Take the U.S. economy for example. Barack Obama wants to believe that his policies have worked and that the U.S. economy is improving. So that is what he is telling the American people. The mainstream media wants to believe that Barack Obama is a good president and that his policies make sense and so they are reporting that we are experiencing an economic recovery. A very large segment of the U.S. population still fully supports Barack Obama and they want to believe that the economy is getting better so they are buying the propaganda that the mainstream media is feeding them. But is the U.S. economy really improving? The truth is that it is not. The rate of employment among working age Americans is exactly where it was two years ago and household incomes have actually gone down while Obama has been president. Home ownership levels and home prices continue to decline. Meanwhile, food and gasoline continue to become even more expensive. The percentage of Americans that are dependent on the government is at an all-time record high and the U.S. national debt has risen by more than 5 trillion dollars under Obama. We simply have not seen the type of economic recovery that we have seen after every other economic recession since World War II.

The horrible statistics about the U.S. economy that you are about to read are not talked about much by the mainstream media. They would rather be “positive” and “upbeat” about the direction that things are headed.

But lying to the American people is not going to help them. If you are speeding in a car toward a 500 foot cliff, you don’t need someone to cheer you on. Instead, you need someone to slam on the brakes.

The cold, hard reality of the matter is that the U.S. economy is in far worse shape than it was four or five years ago.

We have never come close to recovering from the last recession and another one will be here soon.

The following are 25 horrible statistics about the U.S. economy that Barack Obama does not want you to know….

#1 The percentage of Americans that own homes is dropping rapidly. According to Gallup, the current level of homeownership in the United States is the lowest that Gallup has ever measured.

#2 Home prices in the U.S. continue to fall like a rock as well. They have declined for six months in a row and are now down a total of 35 percent from the peak of the housing bubble. The last time that home prices in the United States were this low was back in 2002.

#3 Last year, an astounding 53 percent of all U.S. college graduates under the age of 25 were either unemployed or underemployed.

#4 Back in 2007, about 10 percent of all unemployed Americans had been out of work for 52 weeks or longer. Today, that number is above 30 percent.

#5 When Barack Obama first became president, the number of “long-term unemployed workers” in the United States was 2.6 million. Today, it is 5.3 million.

#6 The average duration of unemployment in the United States is about three times as long as it was back in the year 2000.

#7 Despite what the mainstream media would have us to believe, the truth is that the percentage of working age Americans that are employed is not increasing. Back in March 2010, 58.5 percent of all working age Americans were employed. In March 2011, 58.5 percent of all working age Americans were employed. In March 2012, 58.5 percent of all working age Americans were employed. So how can Barack Obama and the mainstream media claim that the employment situation in the United States is getting better? The employment rate is still essentially exactly where it was when the last recession supposedly ended.

#8 Back in 1950, more than 80 percent of all men in the United States had jobs. Today, less than 65 percent of all men in the United States have jobs.

#9 In 1962, 28 percent of all jobs in America were manufacturing jobs. In 2011, only 9 percent of all jobs in America were manufacturing jobs.

#10 In some areas of Detroit, Michigan you can buy a three bedroom home for just $500.

#11 According to one recent survey, approximately one-third of all Americans are not paying their bills on time at this point.

#12 Since Barack Obama entered the White House, the price of gasoline has risen by more than 100 percent.

#13 The student loan debt bubble continues to expand at a very frightening pace. Recently it was announced that total student loan debt in the United States has passed the one trillion dollar mark.

#14 Incredibly, one out of every four jobs in the United States pays $10 an hour or less at this point.

#15 Household incomes all over the United States continue to fall. After adjusting for inflation, median household income in America has declined by 7.8 percent since December 2007.

#16 Over the past several decades, government dependence has risen to unprecedented heights in the United States. The following is how I described the explosive growth of social welfare benefits in one recent article….

Back in 1960, social welfare benefits made up approximately 10 percent of all salaries and wages. In the year 2000, social welfare benefits made up approximately 21 percent of all salaries and wages. Today, social welfare benefits make up approximately 35 percent of all salaries and wages.

#17 In November 2008, 30.8 million Americans were on food stamps. Today, more than 46 million Americans are on food stamps.

#18 Right now, more than 25 percent of all American children are on food stamps.

#19 According to the U.S. Census Bureau, today 49 percent of all Americans live in a home that receives some form of benefits from the federal government.

#20 Over the next 75 years, Medicare is facing unfunded liabilities of more than 38 trillion dollars. That comes to $328,404for each and every household in the United States.

#21 During the first quarter of 2012, U.S. public debt rose by 359.1 billion dollars. U.S. GDP only rose by 142.4 billion dollars.

#22 At this point, the U.S. national debt is rising by more than 2 million dollars every single minute.

#23 The U.S. national debt has risen by more than 5 trillion dollars since the day that Barack Obama first took office. In a little more than 3 years Obama has added more to the national debt than the first 41 presidents combined.

#24 The Federal Reserve bought up approximately 61 percent of all government debt issued by the U.S. Treasury Department during 2011.

#25 The Federal Reserve continues to systematically destroy the value of the U.S. dollar. Since 1970, the U.S. dollar has lost more than 83 percent of its value.

But the horrible economic statistics only tell part of the story.

In communities all over America there is a feeling that something fundamental has changed. Businesses that have been around for generations are shutting their doors and there is a lot of fear in the air. The following is a brief excerpt from a recent interview with Richard Yamarone, the senior economist at Bloomberg Brief….

You have to listen to what the small businesses are telling you and right now they are telling you, ‘Hey, I’m the head of a 3rd or 4th generation, 75 or 100 year old business, and I’ve got to shut the doors’ or ‘I’ve got to let people go. And if I’m hiring anybody back, it’s only on a temporary basis.’

Sometimes they do this through a hiring firm so that they can sidestep paying unemployment benefit insurance. So that’s what’s really going on at the grassroots level of the economy. Very, very, grossly different from what you’re seeing in some of these numbers coming out in earnings releases.”

All over the country, millions of hard working Americans are desperately looking for work. They have been told that “the recession is over”, but they are still finding it incredibly difficult to find anyone that will hire them. The following example is from a recent CNN article….

Joann Cotton, a 54-year-old Columbus, Mississippi, resident, was one of those faces of poverty we met on the tour. Unemployed for three years, Joann has gone from making “$60,000 a year to less than $15,000 overnight.” Her husband is disabled and dependent on medicines the couple can no longer afford. They rely on food stamps, which, Joann says, “is depressing as hell.”

Receiving government aid, however, has not been as depressing as her job search. Joann says she has applied for at least 300 jobs. Even though she can barely afford gas, she drives to the interviews only to learn that the employers want to hire younger candidates at low wages.

The experiences have taken a toll: “I’ve aged 10 years in the three years that I’ve been looking for a job,” Joann told us. “I want to get a job so I can just relax and exhale … but I can’t. After a while you just give up.”

Meanwhile, Barack Obama and his family continue to live the high life at the expense of the U.S. taxpayer.

Even many Democrats are starting to get very upset about this. The following is from a recent article by Paul Bedard….

Blue collar Democratic voters, stuck taking depressing “staycations” because they can’t afford gas and hotels, are resentful of the first family’s 17 lavish vacations around the world and don’t want their tax dollars paying for the Obamas’ holidays, according to a new analysis of swing voters.

It simply is not appropriate for the Obamas to be spending millions upon millions upon millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars on luxury vacations when so many Americans are deeply suffering.

But Barack Obama does not want you to know about any of this stuff.

Both Gov. Jan Brewer and Mayor Greg Stanton have issued proclamations supporting a comedy fundraiser that seeks to raise money to build a monument devoted to the Bill of Rights in downtown Phoenix.

“You’ve got a Republican and a Democrat both coming together and agreeing on what an important thing this is for Arizona,” organizer Chris Bliss says. “That tells you something about the significance of the event.”

So does the talent involved: Bliss has rounded up some heavyweight comic talent for the fundraiser: Bill Engvall, Lewis Black, Kathleen Madigan, Dick Gregory, Tom Smothers, Bobcat Goldthwait, Steven Wright and Don Novello, reprising his Father Guido Sarducci character.

“We’re bringing a lot to the table,” says Bliss, a comic and juggler in his own right. “Some of these acts gets six figures on their own, and they’re all here, working for free, donating their time and talent.”

Bliss’ idea for a monument sprang from a comedic bit he was working on that involved comparing the Bill of Rights to the 10 Commandments. He then realized how the words and the message of the Bill of Rights weren’t necessarily resonating with a new generation.

“It’s only 500 words,” he says. “It’s not that hard!”

Bliss founded the Bill of Rights Monument Project, which involves installing Bill of Rights displays throughout the United States. His first display, a plaque, was dedicated in Montezuma, Iowa, in 2008.

The Arizona monument, which would be the second effort, is on a much grander scale. Created from 22 tons of stone, it would be placed in Wesley Bolin Plaza near the main entrance. The proposed installation date is late 2012.

About $400,000 needs to be raised for the project; he estimates he has already reached between 25 and 40 percent of the goal. Still, he obviously needs people to dig deeper into their pockets.

“Sometimes people hear about this, and the importance is not immediately obvious,” Bliss says. “A million schoolchildren are going to see this through the years. You will be the first state in the nation to honor in this way the Bill of Rights, one of the most important documents in human history. It’s a big deal.”

For Arizona, it could also be seen as a boost for our state’s image.

“Here were all are, living in a state that’s a great place that has suffered a lot of setback,” Valley concert promoter Danny Zelisko says. “We’ve become the punch line of a lot of jokes for various reasons. That’s what makes this more than just another charity concert or benefit. It’s an incredible cause.”

That’s the historic side of the pitch. Then there’s the entertainment aspect of the fundraiser.

“It really is a comedy hall of fame,” Zelisko says. “This is like a bill of comedy legends.”

That includes Novello’s Father Sarducci character. The chain-smoking padre was a major comedic figure in the 1970s, thanks to appearances on “Saturday Night Live.”

These days, Novello has cut down on his stand-up work and focuses on writing. His satiric book “The Lazlo Letters” was published in 1977 and remains in print. It has also inspired a pair of follow-ups, though the whimsical Sarducci character remains his best-known creation.

Sarducci works because “he’s not about religion,” Novello says.

“People still think it’s going to be me reading the Bible. That’s not funny,” he says. “What’s funny is a priest being a gossip columnist.”

He’s not surprised by the character’s durability.

“I didn’t think he didn’t have legs,” he says. “I didn’t think it was a one-note character. I played this person who could talk about all kinds of different things.”

He got involved with the concert through pal Tom Smothers, who urged him to participate.

“Things like freedom of speech — that’s what comedians are all about,” Novello says.

A Quinnipiac poll in April showed Chris Christie as the most popular potential Republican vice-presidential candidate, thanks to his budget cuts and standing up to government employees’ unions. But the governor of New Jersey has a problem, specifically an Islam problem, that can and should get in the way of his possible ascent to higher office.

Time and again he has sided with Islamist forces against those who worry about safeguarding American security and civilization.

Some examples:

2008: When serving as U.S. attorney for New Jersey, Christie embraced and kissedMohammed Qatanani, imam of the Islamic Center of Passaic County, and praised him as “a man of great goodwill.” He did this after Qatanani had publicly ranted against Jews and in support of funding Hamas, a U.S. government–designated terror organization, and on the eve of his deportation hearing for hiding an Israeli conviction for membership in Hamas. In addition, Christie designated a top aide, Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles McKenna, to testify as a character witness for Qatanani.

2010: After Derek Fenton burned three pages of a Koran at a 9/11 memorial ceremony, his employer, New Jersey Transit, got Christie’s approval to fire him. Protecting Islam at the expense of the constitutional right to free speech, Christieendorsed Fenton’s termination: “That kind of intolerance is something I think is unacceptable. So I don’t have any problem with him being fired.” The American Civil Liberties Union successfully represented Fenton to get his job back.

2011: Christie appointed an Islamist, Sohail Mohammed, to the New Jersey state superior court. Mohammed’s record includes serving as general counsel to the American Muslim Union (which has stated that a “Zionist Commando Orchestrated The 9-11 Terrorist Attacks”), acting as spokesman for Muslim prisoners who went on a hunger strike after being jailed during Ramadan, defending Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative Sami Al-Arian (his indictment, Mohammed said, was “nothing but a witch-hunt”), and helping Qatanani’s legal defense. Mohammed established himself not just as the Islamists’ lawyer but as one of them.

When members of New Jersey’s Senate Judiciary Committee asked Mohammed appropriately tough questions about his enthusiasm for Islam’s archaic law code, the Shari’a, Christie ridiculed the lawmakers: “Shari’a law has nothing to do with this [appointment of Mohammed] at all. It’s crazy. It’s crazy. . . . So, this Shari’a law business is crap. It’s just crazy. And I’m tired of dealing with the crazies. I mean, you know, it’s just unnecessary to be accusing this guy of things just because of his religious background.” For this outburst, unsurprisingly, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) thanked and applauded Christie.

2012: The revelation that the New York Police Department had conducted surveillance of Islamists in the New Jersey towns of Newark and New Brunswick prompted not gratitude but outrage from Christie, who termed the action arrogant and paranoid while mocking NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly as “all knowing, all seeing.”

In short, Christie has hugged a terrorist-organization member, abridged free-speech rights, scorned concern over Islamization, and opposed law-enforcement counterterrorism efforts. Whenever an issue touching on Islam arises, Christie takes the Islamist side against those — the DHS, state senators, the NYPD, even the ACLU — who worry about lawful Islamism eroding the fabric of American life.

Two factors render this pattern especially curious: First, soft-on-Islamism policies are common among Democrats but rare among Republicans (Grover Norquist being the major exception). Second, Christie takes an ostentatiously pro-Israel stance, as reflected by his speeches and his recent “Jersey to Jerusalem” trip; this makes him unusual, for a pro-Israel stance typically goes hand-in-hand with concern about Shari’a. How does one reconcile the Christie contradiction?

It could be ego: The governor is more brilliant than we are. It could be that, other than fiscally, he is not a conservative. Or, as several analysts suggest, it could be cynical double pandering: Muslims get what they want most and Zionists get what they want most, with each side ignoring what Christie does for the other. Indeed, Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut pursued this double-track policy (soft on Islamism, staunch on Israel) and he became the Democrats’ vice-presidential candidate in 2000, when practically no one noticed the contradiction.

Whatever his reasons, we conclude that Chris Christie lacks the moral compass and integrity needed to serve as vice president of the United States.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is accusing the Obama administration of “perpetuating” a recent “surge” in illegal immigrant children who are crossing into the U.S. from Mexico and Central America without their parents and often falling straight into government care.

In a letter obtained by Fox News,Perry wrote to President Obama on Friday citing stats that show more than 5,200 “unaccompanied minors” were taken into U.S. custody in the first six months of the fiscal year — a more than 90 percent increase compared with the same period a year ago.

Perry, a former Republican presidential candidate, claimed that a failure to immediately send them back is “perpetuating the problem” by encouraging other children and teenagers to make the trek. He said the journey is dangerous for the children, and their flow into the United States is a burden on his state and others. The governor urged the administration to eliminate the “temptation” to make “this tragic and illegal migration.”

“Every day of delay risks more lives,” Perry wrote. “Every child allowed to remain encourages hundreds more to attempt the journey. Our country can no longer provide the temptation for these unaccompanied minors to engage in this tragic and illegal migration. To end it, the federal government must stop new arrivals at the border, repatriate those already here and prevent and discourage others.”

It’s unclear exactly how many are being sent back. Perry claimed that an administration member “indicated” fewer than 10 percent are being deported. The children reportedly are coming into the U.S. for a range of reasons, looking for jobs as well as family members in the States.

A recent Associated Press article on the surge reported that 1,390 unaccompanied children crossed over the border and into U.S. custody in March alone. Some have even been housed at Lackland Air Force Base on a temporary basis while they are being processed.

The children, after being initially detained by the Department of Homeland Security, are typically handed over to the care of the Office of Refugee Resettlement — a division of the Department of Health and Human Services.

A Department of Homeland Security official confirmed to FoxNews.com that the number of unaccompanied minors going into HHS care has gone up. But the official stressed that “migration patterns, including those of groups such as unaccompanied children, differ during any given year based on a wide variety of factors.” The official noted that apprehensions were down 53 percent in fiscal 2011, compared with 2008, “an indication that less individuals are trying to cross the border as a result of a number of factors including increased border security.”

In addition, the official said that even as the number of minors going into HHS care rises, the number of actual Border Patrol apprehensions is “on par with past years.” And the official said the unaccompanied minors account for just 5 percent of total Border Patrol apprehensions.

Most of the minors are placed in a shelter after being sent to HHS care. They stay in those shelters an average of more than 60 days, according to a recent study by the Vera Institute of Justice. From there, at least 65 percent of the children are handed over to live with a sponsor inside the United States, the study said. The report described their processing as a “disjointed labyrinthine system.”

Will the Real Tea party Please Stand Up

As the election cycle is beginning to kick into high gear, I have to ask the question: Which tea party is the real tea party? Is it the tea party that is true to the founding principles of the movement, fiscal responsibility, smaller government, strict constitutionalism and personal freedom? Or is it the tea party which seems to be focused on social issues, such as same-sex marriage, reversing Row v. Wade and stopping the war on religion, most notably Catholicism? Or should these all be part of the mix?

This question was discussed vehemently last month when there was a difference in opinion on which Tax Day rally was more appropriate, one which was mostly fiscal in nature or a separate rally which was more social issue focused. Another question which arises is should the tea party movement coalesce behind Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican Presidential nominee or on another candidate, such as Ron Paul?

In some tea party groups there is even another question, that of how much time and effort should be spent on local elections as opposed to national elections, which of these would be most effective at changing the direction of this country?

Tea party detractors point to the reason for these divisions amongst us is because we have no leader, therefore no focus. There are several “national” tea party groups out there, all with “national leaders” and who seem to all have slightly different agendas. But I will argue that these groups don’t necessarily represent what the intent of the movement was when it began. I sometimes wonder if many of us in the movement have actually begun to believe what has been written about us from our detractors, that we are nothing but a pawn of the Republican party, that we are extreme religious conservatives who want to bring the country back to the fifties when people couldn’t profess who they were publically for fear of being bullied or that we our only mission in life is to remove Barack Obama from the Presidency because we are all obviously racists. I have to admit, these are some of the message which I seem to be getting.

Back to the original question which is the real tea party, is it one or a combination of all? There is no easy answer, which is why the divisions in the first place. When the movement started it seemed all those involved were focused on the core principles of the movement. We called ourselves Patriots and believed we could actually change the country, and we did, or at least we began to. One only needs to look at the 2010 mid-term elections to see the dent we made. Long-time incumbents were ousted, many new faces appeared in Congress and even more ran, although not elected. For the first time in my voting life there were races here in Massachusetts that were actually contested and while no incumbents on the national level were defeated, several were in trouble. The real change here was at the state level where the long time Democratic controlled legislature lost some of its clout with some new Republican blood appearing under the golden dome on Beacon Hill.

In this writer’s opinion this is where the tea party movement needs to focus, at the state and local level. We need to change the culture at the lowest levels first so this culture can work its way up through the system. While I agree we need change at the top, unless we change those who are coming up, we will return to the same old system in four years. The culture of spending, entitlements and bigger government needs to stop, and this begins in our own backyards. Local spending is out of control throughout the country. If we begin to affect change at the level we can prove it can be done. This is how we will truly move “Forward”.

Can We Learn from Killing Lincoln, or Is it Too Late to Fix their Mistakes?

Killing Lincoln by Bill O’Reilly is a great book. I think it is inspiring to read history books that are written in the first or second person. Gingrich has written several books like this, but keep in mind these books are fiction and speculative at best. But I think it is a great way to learn about history with this genre or type of writing. It places you at the scene of the killing of Lincoln and Booth. At the end of the day you may not remember all the names, but you will remember a few basic points. Lincoln was shot a few days after General Lee surrendered to General Grant. And Booth was probably nuts fed by the money from the confederates. There are numerous conspiracy theories you can delve into but think about the stupidity of Lincoln and the waste that can be summed up by the words: The Civil War.

The first part of O’Reilly’s book brings you to the massacre of soldiers for the sake of ending the war. Keep in mind there were over 600,000 deaths and over a million casualties. And was all that destruction of property and life worth it to free 4 million slaves in the 1860’s? 40,000 Black soldiers died in the course of the war. (Total U.S. Population 31.5 million)

Lincoln gets the label as the number one president, but would that be so if he was not assassinated? Clearly George Washington should easily be number one but since he had the audacity to own slaves he is pretty much underrated. But Washington was a General and lead armies. He was a great statesman and it could be argued if not for Washington, we may not have the country that we have today.

The book clearly points out time and time again that Lincoln was a jerk. He had numerous death threats. The war was technically over. And he is out riding about Washington with little or no protection. He could have been or should have been protected by an entire Calvary Unit. Instead on that fatal night he was protected by a drunk who went AWOL to have a drink or two. Lincoln had ample resources at his disposal to protect him. This is similar to Obama passing Obamacare. We all know it won’t work, but Skippy thinks if he saddles the nation with this albatross it will all be worked out in the next decade or so. Long after Obama is gone.

We can only conclude that Lincoln fully did not understand the importance of his office. And on the personal level did he realize how difficult it would be for his family if he was assassinated. It would only seem selfish on Lincoln’s part not to defend and protect the Office of the President of the United States.

And all he had to do was ask and he would have been totally protected and the tragedy that occurred on Good Friday over a hundred years ago would have been avoided. Lincoln was of the notion that the South would not be punished for their part in the Civil War. He felt it was time for healing. By allowing the president to be shot, the south lost their biggest advocate in the Whitehouse and maybe all of Washington.

Another weird fact that came from the book was the big surrender scene. Sloppy Grant and pristine Lee played the main rolls. And Lee appeared to be shocked and grateful that no repercussions would come from the surrender. Basically go home and quit fighting. My question is if Grant and Lincoln knew this years before, why not offer the surrender earlier then they did. In doing so, they may have saved the City of Richmond and hundreds of thousands of lives.

If Lincoln was this great president, then why didn’t he avoid the war? Anyone can start a war; it’s the great men that can prevent the carnage. The south’s economy for a very large part was based on slavery. It was their commerce and their prosperity. What do you do with 4 million freed slaves? The south had no use for them. The North wasn’t sending for them to fill their cities and factories. It would seem it would have been a lot easier to end slavery without causing a Civil War.

Let’s imagine one being a plantation owner with a 1,000 slaves. For decades you have paid to feed them, cloth them and shelter them. You have paid to have a doctor look after them. And because of these slaves, as a plantation owner you make a pretty good living. And don’t get hung up on the societal end of things and bad slave owners, think about logistics. So basically once you free the slaves this plantation owner is broke. All the money that was invested in his army of slaves was lost. Similar to all the foreclosures we have had under Obama. One day you own a house that is valuable. The next day because of banks and government rulings, you have nothing. Matter of fact you are actually a slave to the debt and credit rating that may be left over after the foreclosure proceedings.

Of course with this type of punishment, why wouldn’t the south fight back to keep their commerce. I also think that if the South could look into a crystal ball before the first shot was fired, they may have made different decisions. But in the end they felt they were fighting for their constitutional rights that were being taken away by the likes of Lincoln and his band of thieves.

If they had a crystal ball, would they have been more open to compromise. Technology would eventually put an end to slavery in a decade or so, so why subject the nation to the massacres and mayhem?

What if the compromise was to pay the slaves a small amount of money and give them full power to vote? At that time it would only be the male slaves who were not illiterate. What if the parties agreed to raise this amount as salary over time? I would imagine that this may be the first inkling of or the start of unions. Technically the slaves would no longer be slaves. They would have money and a vote. And they could stay put where they are fed, clothed and sheltered. Why not have capitalism pay for their upkeep instead of the taxpayer?

And as this money reached a certain level, essentially the slaves per se would be free. They could buy their own freedom, rather then be given Welfare and shackles with another form of slavery. All forms of government are essentially slavery. It is the purpose of a true democracy not a republic to make the rules and laws acceptable and ratified by the majority of the people not a select few.

It is like programming a computer. It is always easy to write script to change a part of the program. The hard part is to examine the entire program to see where this change will have an ill effect. The same holds true with political laws that are passed. The liberals don’t seem to take to heart or to the wallet what changes these laws will have on our economy and freedom.

NAFTA, EPA and Obamacare are useless legislation’s that look good to a few but in the end these legislation’s take on a life of their own and bring down not only freedom, but the entire economy. Which in the end, it will be just like Lincoln freeing the slaves. $15 trillion dollars later and we still have the same poverty numbers and a whole lot of national debt! The liberals may mean well, but they are too stupid to cause real and prosperous change.

Some will argue if Lincoln was not shot then he would be executed at some point. If he was protected, it would have taken an obvious inside conspiracy to kill the president. As it was, it was only a lone gunman near a grassy mall.

These are my thoughts and opinions. Take the time to read this great book. Children can read the book. A lot of money that O’Reilly makes goes to charities. He would rather give to charity then to pay taxes. So take the time and read about history.

And take the time to think about what if. And then take the time to think about Obama. What if Obama did not pass Obamacare? What if Obama did not waste all that money on stimulus spending? Remember a great deal of the TARP money that was charged to President Bush was returned with interest. What did Obama do with that money? What if Obama stopped spending money in 2009? What if Obama freed the mortgage industry from the greed of politicians and bankers and Wall Street?

What would the economy look like today?

It is easy to pass laws. It seems hard as hell to take responsibility for them. We have come a long way, it is amazing to think that the children of the president are descendants of slaves and slave owners. It is time for the liberals to get out of the way so the shackles of intrusive government can be removed forever so that capitalism can bring freedom and fairness. Wouldn’t you want to be free to make choices rather then be strapped to the rules and regulations created by liberal progressives? Please, Don’t let history repeat itself, over and over!
